WHAT I USE ON MY SKIN

It has taken me years to discover a skincare routine that has worked for. But before we get into that let me explain my skin. I have combination skin my cheeks get so dry they flake and my T-Zone gets so oily you could fry some chicken on it. I am grateful to never have had acne and other than a few pimple spots and dark spots I didn’t have too many skin issues.

There have been so many different cleaners I have tried that have intensified the oil on my face and then there are others that have dried my face out so badly I have dry patches and flaking all over but there are a few that are worth the by especially for combination skin.

Hardware

I stand by a good face brush, I full-on believe your face is never truly clean with just your hands.

I use the Mia 2 Facial Cleansing Brush, this specific brush has been discontinued but they have newer options on their site. But I really love this brush because after each use I feel my face is actually clean. (sidenote I never buy replacements of the Clarisonic site, I just search the internet for brush head that is compatible with the brush and this is a good way to save money on it).

This is the brush I use but there are so many different brushes both electrical and not electric. Here are a few:

Waterproof Facial Cleansing Spin Brush

Cleansers

Cetaphil facial cleaner is probably one of my favorite cleaners I have ever used. It does make my face feel dry after but nothing that made my face feel overly dry and it isn’t anything moisturizer didn’t fix.

Biore Blue Agave + Baking Soda Cleanser is probably one of my favorite nighttime cleansers. It has exfoliating beads that scrub on my face and it feels so smooth after. I’m not a huge fan of Biore but this cleanser was worth it, for me at least. Although it is an exfoliant it doesn’t rub rough against my skin which is wonderful, because then it doesn’t irritate my skin. It also does makes me as if I’m rubbing the dirt from my day away. But because it does still exfoliate I don’t like to use it every night I tend to do it every other night.

Body Prescriptions Sea Salt and Coconut Oil facial scrub is something I tend to use once a week so I don’t over irritate my face but I do recommend everyone get an exfoliant for their face and bodies. The way this thing has my face feeling after I use it is magical. It feels so smooth and is worth the buy. I bought mine from marshalls right before they shut down but I’ll include similar ones I could find.

I don’t typically wear foundation and I’m not wearing any in this picture.

Moisturizer

Finding a good moisturizer has been my absolute hell. Find a cleanser was never an issue for me but for my moisturizer I had to find products that didn’t dry but over oil my face. I also needed help with lightening my dark spots. I am still looking for those products that satisfy me but here are a  few I have used and liked

I used the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Glycerin Face Moisturizer all summer last year and it worked well mixed with the Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare it did its thing, made my face feel smooth and moisturized. But after a while I had to stop using this because it left a white residue in my t-zone no matter how much I tried to rub it out, it never seems to go away. I definitely would recommend the bio-oil, it wired great with my cheeks.

After, I started to use the Unscented Mederma Quick Dry Oil on my dark spots on my face and on other places of my body, but I will discuss what I use on my body in another post. This oil really helped lighten some of the dark spots on my face but I prefer to only use it once a week to avoid over oiling my face. Lately, however, I’ve started to use The Ordinary products and let me say I’ve been missing out. The Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA both work so well together, they moisturize but don’t over oil or dry out my face, and it’s great. They also give this slow aspect and it really does look great.

Mask

A good mask really can change your face. I tend to use the same mask because they work and why change something that works.

Freeman Feeling Beautiful Clay Face Mask, Purifying Avocado + Oatmeal I have had this mask for a while and though it really isn’t anything to write home about my face always feels cleaned and softer after.

Of course, I use the Aztec clay mask that you really could get from anywhere. I usually use this once in a while but when I do I my face feels rejuvenated after.

The last mask I like to use is The Ordinary  AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution this product along with the other Ordinary products I’ve mentions leave my face looking the right kind of shiny and soft

I want to point out what works for me doesn’t work for everyone and even though I do love the routine I have going now I am always trying new things so comment down below some of the products you like to use.
